Philippe Gilbert has added the one-day Memorial Samyn race to his recent Het Volk title.

Belgian Gilbert, who rides for Francaise des Jeux, won the 193-kilometre contest from Kevin Ista (Agritubel) and Alexei Saramontis (Rietmu Bank-Riga).

The victory was a personal milestone for Gilbert after he ended the 2006 and 2007 events in second.

His time of 4:38.10 was shared by 42 other rides in the leading peleton, compatriot Ista and Latvian Saramontis among them.

Three more Belgians, Nico Sijmens (Landbouwkrediet), Maarten Wynants (Quick Step) and Kristof Topsport Goddaert (Vlaanderen) followed the top three.

Only Agritubel had two riders in the top 10, with Frenchman Anthony Ravard seventh. The team also boasted the 12th- and 14th-placed finishes.
