Eight players succeeded in making it to the final table in Copenhagen after a few arduous days. The tough climate at the Scandinavian tables wore out many a favourite. However, two Americans and one Frenchman were amongst the players who remained.
The American Tim Vance arrived at the final table as the chip leader. Vance hadn't made a whole lot of friends during the tournament as he played most of his hands standing up, talked constantly and liked to sing old Beatles songs.
Nevertheless, or maybe because of this, the Illinois man, otherwise unheard of on the tournament scene, ploughed unflinchingly through the final table to the heads-up game with the Dane Sören Jensen.
What happened during the duel between the two players, which lasted for more than four hours, shall remain concealed within the poker world. Observers of this marathon slog of a game would have been forgiven for drifting off.
What is known for sure is that Vance finally won with ATs through a flush on the river.
The last eight players were:
1. Tim Vance (USA) / 834,590
2. Sören Jensen (Denmark) / 472,463
3. Magnus Hansen (Denmark) / 274,425
4. Rasmus Nielsen (Denmark) / 209,355
5. Daniel Ryan (USA) / 172,576
6. Nicolas Dervaux (France) / 135,798
7. Simon Dorslund (Denmark) / 107,507
