Crucible legend Jimmy White will not play in the World Championship this year after losing 10-3 to Ken Doherty in the penultimate round of qualifying.
Taking a 6-3 lead into the evening session, Doherty romped home to set up a meeting with Joe Swail on Monday to decide who makes it to Sheffield.
The 1997 world champion was too consistent for White, who made the only century, a 103.
White has not played at the Crucible since losing in the first round of the 2006 tournament to David Gray. His late-night victory over Mark Boyle on Wednesday guaranteed his place on the main tour next season, at the expense of John Parrott.
Irishman Doherty lost in the qualifiers last season, bringing to an end 15 straight appearances in the Sheffield showpiece.
Former top 16 player Alan McManus recovered from 9-7 down to win 10-9 against Paul Davies, but two-time ranking tournament winner Dominic Dale crashed out against Rod Lawler.
Martin Gould triumphed 10-8 over Belgian Bjorn Haneveer, while Tom Ford made it through against Anthony Hamilton 10-6.
