Atletico Madrid boss Javier Aguirre has ruled himself out of the running to become coach of Mexico. After Mexican FA board member revealed they were considering seven candidates, six of them foreigners, there was speculation Aguirre was the lone Mexican.
"I have heard that I am in a list with other coaches as (Jose) Pekerman, (Felipe) Scolari," said Aguirre.
"I repeat once again: I have a contract until June 30 with this club and I am with my mind only on it.
"Besides I have a clause in my contract to renew it automatically if the team qualifies for Europe.
"That is the best answer and the only one that I could give to talk about my future.
"This clause is signed. I am very happy here. I have a project and we are working on it.
"The last year was to put Atletico in Europe and this in the Champions League. We see what will happen in the future."
