Hurst strike seals Shakers win

Sat 05 Apr, 07:00 PM

Bury striker Glynn Hurst was the matchwinner for the Shakers as Danny Crow's leveller counted for nothing for Notts County in a 2-1 defeat.Hurst was on hand to poke home from three yards out with just three minutes left on the clock after Adam Rooney's 18th-minute opener had been cancelled out by Danny Crow's 71st-minute effort.

The visitors had one chance in the first half, but midfielder Richard Butcher wasted that when he fired wide after 27 minutes.

All the play was at the other end of the field and Russell Hoult denied Bury the lead with a brilliant fingertip save from Rooney after 15 minutes after Andy Bishop had headed wide Elliott Bennett's cross.

Richie Baker went close to handing Bury victory late in the action, but the midfielder fired over the bar from the edge of the area before Hurst's intervention.
