Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha is set to miss the remainder of the season after suffering arm injuries during the 2-0 Premier League defeat to Chelsea.
The 20-year-old right-sided defender landed awkwardly after being tackled by Michael Essien just before the hour mark, and was stretchered off in some pain leading to initial fears he had suffered a serious leg injury.
But City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson confirmed that the England Under-21 international suffered a dislocated shoulder and a possible broken wrist.
"I do not know how bad his shoulder is," Eriksson said afterwards. "He is in hospital, having X-rays.
"Nedum also has a problem with his wrist. We are just hoping it is not broken."
City have been in poor form recently, sliding down to upper-mid table after a promising start to the season, and are already without defensive star Micah Richards, who underwent a knee operation earlier in 2008.
