German side Kiel and Spanish outfit Ciudad Real qualified for the semi-finals of the Champions League by wrapping up aggregate wins over HC Croatia Osiguranje-Zagreb and Veszprem respectively.
In front of a sell-out crowd, the crack German outfit Kiel stayed on course for a third consecutive final with a 31-27 victory over Zagreb.
After the first game was a 28-28 draw that meant that the 2007 champions went through by a 59-55 aggregate scoreline.
Kiel did the damage in the opening half as they led 17-11 at the break.
In Hungary, Ciudad Real scrapped through despite losing 32-29 on the night against Veszprem.
A 29-24 first leg victory in Spain proved to be just about enough for the defending champions as they won 58-56 on aggregate
