Brighton youngster Tommy Elphick admitted he would 'never have imagined' picking up the player of the year award in his first full season. The 20-year-old centre-half started the campaign with just four appearances to his name, but his consistent performances in the Brighton rearguard saw him poll 40% of the vote from Albion fans.
"At the start of the season I was just hoping to establish myself in the side, get a few games under my belt and enjoy the season," he said.
"I never imagined I would get the player of the season award. It has been a memorable season on a personal and team level."
Striker Nicky Forster was second in the poll, with goalkeeper Michel Kuipers third.
