Ternent reveals regret over Page

Mon 05 May, 04:30 PM

Huddersfield manager Stan Ternent has expressed his disappointment at not having chance to offer departed defender Rob Page a new contract.Former Wales international Page, who arrived at Huddersfield from Coventry in January, has signed a pre-contract agreement with Chesterfield.

Ternent told Huddersfield's official website: "I asked Rob to go away and come back to me about what type of deal he wanted here, in terms of length of contract and remuneration.

"However, Gerry (Murphy) called me to say he was signing for Chesterfield. It seems obvious that has been an ongoing negotiation - it doesn't just happen that quickly - so we haven't had chance to make him an offer.

"If he doesn't want to play for us that's fine and I wish him well. Apparently he's done well here.

"I would have liked the opportunity to speak to him, but there you go. He lives on that side of Sheffield and he can now fall out of bed and into Chesterfield, so perhaps that has something to do with it."
