African stars John Mutai and Marashet Jumma retained their titles at the Deep RiverRock Belfast Marathon on Monday.

Mutai of Kenya won in a time of two hours 16 minutes and 31 seconds ahead of Pole Bogdan Dziuba with Ukraine's Vyacheslav Prykhodko finishing third.

Jumma smashed the women's course record of 2hr 41min 33sec, set two years ago by fellow Ethiopian Lemma Urge, by clocking 2hr 39min 22sec.

That earned her the winner's prize money of £2,500 with a further £1,000 for breaking the record.
