December 2006 - Blasts England players releasing autobiographies after an unsuccessful World Cup campaign. "England did nothing in the World Cup, so why are they bringing books out? 'We got beat in the quarter-finals, I played like s***, here's my book'. Who wants to read that? I don't," he says.
February 2007 - Makes his England debut against Spain, replacing Frank Lampard, one of the players he was thought to have aimed his earlier criticism at.

Barton is just one of those people who are so, annoying to see... When I saw him come on, for Newcastle vs. Arsenal, two days ago, in the 89th minute, I was maybe a little surprised about him getting booed, but then he did two horrible tackles, and yah, this guy should be in jail, put the weirdo back.
I'm not sure who's worse, Barton or some of the people who have posted on this story. Seems like it's a tie, you all should be sacked (including Barton).
Had Joey Barton been a foreign player was the treatment going to be the same? I seem to remember a certain Turkish international [Alpay] who had his contract terminated for standing up against a certain Englishman [David Beckham].
Don't forget, if he was a black player, he will be history too.
All those people that are supporting giving Joey Barton a second chance, would you still feel the aame way if he had assaulted one of your family ? I don't think so. Time and time again he has been given a chance but he still carries on bullying and assaulting innocent people. He should be dealt with accordingly like the normal working man would of been and put in jail for a reasonable amount of time and paid his dues. To add insult to injury he walks out and back into his job as if nothing has happended. Once thug like this, always a thug. I always believe everyone should be given a second chance but he has well surpassed this. Kevin Keegan you should be ashamed of yourself encouraging thuggery, God help Newcastle this season. Just what has Barton got to do to get his punishment ?? Kill someone ??
KK really is stupid. I wonder if he would take this animal back after he assulted one of his sons???
Why do the Magpies keep hiring thugs whose names begin with B? Bowyer, Bellamy, Barton. A few decent defenders would be nice, whatever their initials.
Barton was a shocking signing in the first place, Newcastle need to get things in order before it all crumbles. Mid table finish at the strongest this season. to many overpayed wusses including the Manager I was one of very few NUFC fans who seen the appointment of Keegan as a mistake, (the bloke screwed it up when he had some passion, Aswell as the loss of his perm he has also lost his mind.
Dont take him out prison it is his home he will miss it he will just go back
Willie Woodburn was banned sine die for his 4th red card on the field of play. That little worm Barton should get the same punishment , and never allowed to play football of any grade anywhere in the world. The same should happen to Keegan. Bullyboyhater
this scumbags family killed anthony walker and last year his two cousins brothers of paul barton stabbed my nephew to death just a matter of time before this scumbag goes to far he should be hanged along with the rest of his family
COMPLETE @#$%. Needs to be put down like a rabid animal. Oh The troubles NUFC will this season!
Joey is the well behaved one in his family, think about that.
joey barton what do we think, me the lad has a talent; YES he has done wrong but in the eyes of the law his has served his time, Kevin Keegan should he be sacked for taking him back, I say no he has proved himself as a manager so let him prove himself as a mentor. Fair play Kev you have seen something in him like someone found in me and i was a lost cause. But now im a model citzen according too my fellow peers. GOOD LUCK JOEY BARTON prove the biggots wrong. man utd fan
Such a lot of ugliness for the beautiful game.
Joe.
scummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I first thought he was a sick animal and should be put down. But then I saw sense, this is no animal, he is the type of filthy f*cking scum that we see on tv every day of the week. He should be stripped naked, tied up, and let all the families that he has hurt loose on him. Kick the @#$% out of him, then his scum bag murdering brother. Chop em up and feed up to pigs. That should do it. Oh, and Keegan, I think you should look in the mirror mate,,, you really are a tw*t.
Joey Barton is a bad boy. He can never be a Muslim. Iris
send him back to prison coz thats where he belongs
KEVIN KEEGAN SHOULD BE SACKED AS MANAGER OF NEWCASTLE FOR TAKING BARTON BACK WHAT KIND OF MESSAGE DOES THIS GIVE THE KIDS BARTON AND HIS WHOLE FAMILY ARE OUT AND OUT THUGS THEY ARE DESPISED IN LIVERPOOL HE STRUTS AROUND LIKE NO ONE CAN TOUCH HIM AND UNFOURTANTLY KEVIN KEEGAN AND THE FA HAVE PROVED HIM RIGHT I URGE ALL TRUE FOOTBALL FANS AND DECENT PEOPLE TO GIVE HIM NOT NEWCASTLE FANS THE HARDEST TIME POSSIBLE HE IS THE SCUM OF THE EARTH
Joey barton deserves another chance whatplanet does Keagan come from? Had Joey Barton been a foreign player was the treatment going to be the same? I seem to remember a certain Turkish international [Alpay] who had his contract terminated for standing up against a certain Englishman [David Beckham]. His offence was "Remember where wages come from you cannot do that to our golden balls because it tarnishes the image of the club [Aston Villa]" If thats the moral high ground that clubs are prepared to take in an effort to preserve their IMAGE, what sort of image are Newcastle looking to portray thugery, savagery, notoriety you name it? Are our children expected to follow the same model that Barton is setting? Wake up TOON refuse to be associated with the immoral. Joey Barton should be in prison where he belongs.
