Blues pair set to miss out

Midfielder Deco and centre-half Ricardo Carvalho are unlikely to figure against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final second leg due to hamstring problems.

However, Brazilian defender Alex, who tweaked a groin in the 3-1 win over Fulham on Saturday, should be fit along with Michael Essien.

Joe Cole and Paulo Ferreira are out for the season with knee ligament injuries, but Ashley Cole is available after being banned for the first leg.
