Colchester defender Chris Coyne is set to make his international debut for Australia in this Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Iraq.Coyne has travelled with the Socceroos for their two crucial World Cup qualifiers in the Middle East against Iraq and Qatar and the 29-year-old was used in a three-man defence during a training session following the team's arrival in Dubai, where they face Iraq.

Coyne sat on the substitutes' bench during the Socceroos' 1-0 win against the same opponents in Brisbane on Sunday, when Verbeek's side endured numerous nervous moments in defence before securing a narrow victory.

As a result the Dutch boss is set to bolster his defence with Coyne looking the man most likely to get the nod.

"He (Coyne) has personality; he's a leader; he's a tough defender; he's a very good header; he's never in panic, so he is somebody so far that we don't have in the backline," Verbeek told Football Federation Australia's official website.

"Everything I have said is exactly what he is doing, so that is good. I have the confidence (in him) that's why I took him in the last selections, so he can do a job."
