Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson expects a decision on the futures of captain Peter Leven and Janos Kovacs before the end of the week.Midfielder Leven turned down the offer of a new contract at Saltergate last month while Hungarian defender Kovacs has yet to sign the fresh terms offered.

"We will know what their intentions are by the end of this week," said Richardson. "It is pretty clear that they are both looking at other options and after this week so will we if necessary.

"We have numerous spots in the squad to fill because that is what I am building, a squad not a team."

Chesterfield rejected a £100,000 offer for Leven from Brighton in January and the south coast club are thought to have renewed their interest in the Scot.
