Southampton reserve-team manager Stewart Henderson cannot wait to get started working alongside new head coach Jan Poortvliet.Henderson will work closely with the new boss, academy director Mark Wotte and Under-18 coach Dave Hockaday as part of the club's continental-style new coaching system.
And he told the club's official website: "I am delighted to be involved in the new set-up and it will be very interesting to see how it pans out.
"I have been involved with the first-team both home and away for the past couple of seasons and I have watched a lot of Championship games.
"The likes of Adam Lallana, Lloyd James, Olly Lancashire and Simon Gillett have now moved on beyond Reserve level and they need to kick on.
"There are others coming through who could play a part - and everyone now will have the chance to stake a claim in pre-season."
