Stockport have been given a major boost after striker Matty McNeil agreed a new 12-month deal with the newly-promoted League One outfit.County beat Rochdale 3-2 in the League Two play-off final at Wembley last month and boss Jim Gannon is seeking to reshape his squad over the summer.
McNeil scored six goals last season and a statement on the club's official website said: "Stockport County and Matty McNeil have reached an agreement over a new 12-month deal and the big striker is expected to sign the contract next week."
Meanwhile, negotiations with Gary Dicker, who has been offered a new two-year contract, and Michael Rose and Jamie Smith, who have both been offered 12-month deals, are ongoing.
