The 29-year-old Moroccan international began his professional career at Nancy in 1998, before moving to Premier League side Fulham in 2001.

He has since played for Stade Rennes and Greek side Olympiakos, before returning to French football with Valenciennes in January 2007.

"Of course I would like to return," he said. "Nancy is my home and I cannot ignore the interest of [Nancy] president [Jacques] Rousselot. I must listen to my heart."

"But I am under contract with Valenciennes, with whom I have an excellent relationship, for another two years. The clubs will discuss it."

"For me, it is unthinkable to cause conflict, because that is not in my nature. If I have to leave, it must be done cleanly and properly."

Ouaddou has also been linked with a move to Premier League sides West Bromwich Albion, Newcastle, Middlesbrough and newly promoted Stoke City, but Nancy are reportedly confident of tying up a deal.

Nancy finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season, thereby securing a place in next season's UEFA Cup.
