Tranmere have sacked Ronnie Moore in the wake of the club's failure to reach the League One play-offs.

FOOTBALL 2008-09 League One Tranmere Rovers manager Ronnie Moore - 0

Moore joined Rovers in June 2006 but attendances at Prenton Park have dropped by over 19 per cent during the last three years and the club have decided to wield the axe.

Tranmere chairman Peter Johnson said: "I'd like to thank Ronnie for his services to the club over the last three seasons and to wish him well for the future."

He added: "We now need to focus on next season and we will start the process of finding a new manager and assistant manager immediately in preparation for the pre-season training which starts on July 1."

Moore's assistant Peter Shirtliff quit the club to join League One rivals Swindon earlier this week.

  3. you have dropped one hell of a bollock here Tranmere.
you are in no mans land when it comes to attendances so close to the big 2, an missed out on the play offs on the last DAY.

  4. I am not a Tranmere fan, but learning of this news saddens me greatly. Under normal employment rules I believe Mr Moore would have an excellent case for unfair dismissal. I think that his efforts have been excellent under difficult circumstances. My team is Leicester, who only lost 4 games, of which one was to Tranmere, who not only won but out played Leiceser on that day The credit he and his team got showed the direction that he was heading with Tranmere and Im certain that under him, promotion would have come eventualy. Mr Moore I respect you as a manager and more so as a man who I feel is both dignified and honourable. I wish you well and would welcome you at Leicester if the occasion ever presented itself.
