Manchester City are alleged to be preparing bids for Samuel Eto'o, Diego Forlan and Carlos Tevez, but do you think they are doing the right thing?
After all this, City will have more players than positions, which would be fine except these players are all the kind of guys who would expect to start every game, especially at a club like City who are not playing in Europe.
So who will make way? Mark Hughes is almost certainly going to cut his losses on perma-crock Craig Bellamy, while Micah Richards could make way for Kolo Toure after failing to live up to early promise.
And what about Robinho? With Eto'o, Forlan and Tevez, will City play a 4-3-3 and rotate the four or will they sell the volatile Brazilian?
Also, what will happen to the likes of Shaun Wright-Phillips and Martin Petrov if City switch to a midfield three?
Is it a positive attempt to build a title-challenging team or wild, profligate spending with no real strategy? Should they tear the current squad apart or try to build on last season with a couple of signings and focus on improving team-work? Have your say by clicking on the link below the photo our message boards!
Doddy: "It's ok scoring goals but the defence needs to stop letting in silly goals so buy some good defenders! The midfield is the most important area, we need width and a good holding player. You have to get - and keep - the ball before you can score so play 4-4-2 not 4-3-3 as the extra attacker means a narrower midfield and leaves our flanks open. We also need some height for the set-pieces or crosses."
Yip (a Chelsea fan): "I think they will sign a striker and then concentrate the rest of the market time on defence. Which is fair enough. If they sign even a couple of the players they are linked with they could easily win the league next season. Can I ask everyone who claims to see players at airports and stuff to stop talking such ****, it never once came true. Pointless drivel!"
Khairyazlan: "Forget Eto'o, just target Tevez and Forlan, both of these players already know english football. City must focus on defending too. I think Gary Cahill, Joleon Lescott, and Steven Taylor are suited enough and their price also not too expensive. My first eleven choice is GK: Given; CB: Onuoha, Cahill; LB: Bridge; RB: Richards; CM: De Jong, Barry, Ireland; LW: Robinho; RWF: Tevez/SWP; CF: Forlan/Bellamy."
victash4real: "It isn't about making hasty purchases without thinking out what formation the team will be playing. What makes Man City think they can get such high-profile players when they are not playing in Europe next season? Maybe the Kaka lesson is not enough for them to know that not all players that are after the money, which is the only thing City have to offer."
azim110894: "I think Sparky will get one more Super Striker, my guess is Tevez then he'll get a secondary striker to fill in as a replacement in case of injuries. But in case he wants to switch 4-3-3 he'll get Eto'o. If I were Sparky,I'd get Higuain though."
concerned: "1 Get rid of Hughes and his so called coaches. 2. A world class central defender is required. 3. A world class goalscoring centre forward."
garethtait1: "Why? Diego Forlan? Now Lucas Neill too! Gosh this is a lack of ambition and I am sure Forlan could score goals but he's getting old now. I don't understand this Man City, the club with unlimited transfer funds it seems and they want to sign Forlan why? Eto and Tevez would be good captures Mark Hughes should pursue these two but Lucas Neill and Forlan come on..."
rgold85 (An Arsenal fan): "I wouldn't be surprised if Manchester city end up signing Kaka because last year Chelsea looked the favourites to sign Robhino and then City stole him. I do hope they sign Tevez he's a great striker and I love watching him play football."

Given, Hart - Richards, Kompany, Bridge, Onuoha, Cahill - De Jong, Barry, Ireland, Wright-Phillips, Petrov, Ze Roberto (?) - Robinho, Elano, Bellamy, Jo. There's a great spine already. Buy Kolo Toure, Gomis, Nilmar and Ze Roberto! Sell Bellamy, Jo and Petrov! City could be a great team next season.
Would be nice if the players we have would just give it everything for a measley 90 minutes a week. Not too much to ask for a wage that is more in a week than i get in a year. Then I would be happy win or lose.
Fact of football life. Money buys succcess Sir Alex has been doing it for years despite his silly comments about Chelsea IE "if they think they can buy the Premiere-ship they should think again" His great years have been bought by buying great players. Ronaldo, Van der Zar. The great Rooney,in his day Brien Robson, and of course a great bargin buy from Leeds United Eric Cantona.
Alex Fergusons great genius is spending wisely on great players and (something lots of United fans miss) he appoints (or sombody in the club appoints) good assistant Managers! have you noticed when he's on his own the team always struggles
Why can't other team managers do the same?
Of course they can and will.

City fans talk some @#$%. Tevez aint going to city. Carry on signing players that nobody wants, and get rid of your players that nobody else wants. Wake Up!! Mark Hughes doesnt actually read this!!
Bloody hell, YIP, POST65, you talk alot of sense for a chelsea fan.
Even though i still think Hughes needs to go and go now, getting Barry is a decent manoevure as long as he plays him alongside DeJong and Kompany as a 3 strong holding midfield .. allowing Robinho and Ireland to have fun but... my guess is that Hughes and his coaching staff are numptys and will ruin everything by continuing the non-sense
4-2-4 system which is why city get battered away from home and do ok, with the crowd, at home.
Cithey?.... please spell the clubs name properly at least!
Why even bother looking at more players when your manager hasnt got a clue. Get rid of him, bring in a manager with correct pedigree and then start. You will have a strike force which is second to non, with richard dunne at the back and a load of chelsea rejects, nice just hope shay given- who is a great keeper, likes picking the ball out of the net alot of times
all the money Cithey spent last season bought them a mid table position...............this time top 9 I reckon!! COYS
people need to remember that you can sign players but good players wont be willing to be squad players at city until they are CL team. they need a strong 1st team and probably older experienced players in reserve or really young players. good players at a good age wont accept being on the bench. a big striker and a central defender is what they need and they will have a 1st team that could easily break into the top4
maybe thell sign someone gd like denis erwin or paul ince or stam or cantona beckam giggs cole yorke rooney ruud charlton . :)
i recon the'll gt tevez nd nani maybe eto but they need to focus on defence.maybe carvalho he wants first tean football
I think that man utd should keep tevez.man city should go get bigger strickers like hengy or peter crouch
City will just try to buy anyone with a name. They haven't got a clue with how to build a team. That's why odds of 33-1 have been given to them for winning the league next season. To short in my opinion. Should have been more like 100-1.
City need a strong manager who will say no to the owners. As it seems to be them just going out and buying these players and telling Hughes what to do. As we all know when this happens. On the pitch it is never goes right.
What are gonna do with Hart?
Top quality keeper on bench week in week out.
Every big player wants to win in the Premier League, and wants to play with a great core of players that will help them get better for the World Cup, that is the ambition.
Man City don't need Forlan, Tevez or Eto'o, well maybe Eto'o.
No what they NEED is Drogba, Zlatan, Chiellini, Cahill, Vidic, and hopefully steal Kaka and Ribery.
They should also get rid of Dunne, SWP, and Bellamy.
Here it goes" Gk: Given, DF: Richards, DF: Chiellini, DF: Vidic, DF: Cahill, MF: Ireland, MF Barry, MF: Kaka, MF: Ribery, FW: Drogba, FW: Ibrahimovic.
Alas, reality has seldom been a companion of the city fan, the eternal dreamers still dreaming.
abdiqani, you're not making any sense you moron!!
what are the ambitions of Man city? to win the leageu? to play in europe? or to survive in the PL, like all other prem Leage clubs. I think the answer is the last one. så why would any top player like eto'o or kaka come to city? this doesnt make any sense to me.
