Manchester City are alleged to be preparing bids for Samuel Eto'o, Diego Forlan and Carlos Tevez, but do you think they are doing the right thing?
After all this, City will have more players than positions, which would be fine except these players are all the kind of guys who would expect to start every game, especially at a club like City who are not playing in Europe.
So who will make way? Mark Hughes is almost certainly going to cut his losses on perma-crock Craig Bellamy, while Micah Richards could make way for Kolo Toure after failing to live up to early promise.
And what about Robinho? With Eto'o, Forlan and Tevez, will City play a 4-3-3 and rotate the four or will they sell the volatile Brazilian?
Also, what will happen to the likes of Shaun Wright-Phillips and Martin Petrov if City switch to a midfield three?
Is it a positive attempt to build a title-challenging team or wild, profligate spending with no real strategy? Should they tear the current squad apart or try to build on last season with a couple of signings and focus on improving team-work? Have your say by clicking on the link below the photo our message boards!
Doddy: "It's ok scoring goals but the defence needs to stop letting in silly goals so buy some good defenders! The midfield is the most important area, we need width and a good holding player. You have to get - and keep - the ball before you can score so play 4-4-2 not 4-3-3 as the extra attacker means a narrower midfield and leaves our flanks open. We also need some height for the set-pieces or crosses."
Yip (a Chelsea fan): "I think they will sign a striker and then concentrate the rest of the market time on defence. Which is fair enough. If they sign even a couple of the players they are linked with they could easily win the league next season. Can I ask everyone who claims to see players at airports and stuff to stop talking such ****, it never once came true. Pointless drivel!"
Khairyazlan: "Forget Eto'o, just target Tevez and Forlan, both of these players already know english football. City must focus on defending too. I think Gary Cahill, Joleon Lescott, and Steven Taylor are suited enough and their price also not too expensive. My first eleven choice is GK: Given; CB: Onuoha, Cahill; LB: Bridge; RB: Richards; CM: De Jong, Barry, Ireland; LW: Robinho; RWF: Tevez/SWP; CF: Forlan/Bellamy."
victash4real: "It isn't about making hasty purchases without thinking out what formation the team will be playing. What makes Man City think they can get such high-profile players when they are not playing in Europe next season? Maybe the Kaka lesson is not enough for them to know that not all players that are after the money, which is the only thing City have to offer."
azim110894: "I think Sparky will get one more Super Striker, my guess is Tevez then he'll get a secondary striker to fill in as a replacement in case of injuries. But in case he wants to switch 4-3-3 he'll get Eto'o. If I were Sparky,I'd get Higuain though."
concerned: "1 Get rid of Hughes and his so called coaches. 2. A world class central defender is required. 3. A world class goalscoring centre forward."
garethtait1: "Why? Diego Forlan? Now Lucas Neill too! Gosh this is a lack of ambition and I am sure Forlan could score goals but he's getting old now. I don't understand this Man City, the club with unlimited transfer funds it seems and they want to sign Forlan why? Eto and Tevez would be good captures Mark Hughes should pursue these two but Lucas Neill and Forlan come on..."
rgold85 (An Arsenal fan): "I wouldn't be surprised if Manchester city end up signing Kaka because last year Chelsea looked the favourites to sign Robhino and then City stole him. I do hope they sign Tevez he's a great striker and I love watching him play football."

Please sign Lookarse, Blabber and Arblower and make Liverpool fans happy. In fact, we'll pay you!
lescott is rubbish what kind of moron are you. they should go for cannavaro for one or two seasons to give them time to look around for new young tallent coming through from around the world. they need to be spotting the next roberto carlos or rio ferdinand and getting in there before the other big clubs do especially now they can out bid anyone else. for now though they could do with eto'o or tevez and maybe two quality midfielders like deco who isnt doing too well at chelsea and maybe some pace like arjen robben for the wing. owen and duff could probably come at a bargain price at the moment. but please dont go buying useless people like lescott or titus bramble
Personally, I think City would do best to sign the brightest young talents around the world with all that money (like the ones doing well in under-21 national teams and so on). Maybe they can't lure the likes of Kaka yet, but they certainly have funds to scout & do this as a long term investment. You see Chelsea, Arsenal, ManU doing this all the time. It's important to bring in established players for success in the league, but it's also good to have stream of 3-4 young players coming in every year costing a few million each. Clubs with small funds can't gamble like this, but with good fund like City has it can be done. The only issue is whether the board will have patience. :p
Not a case of what next?; but who next? really.

Morons please stop posting on this site. My 1 2 3 is .1 Get rid of Hughes and his so called coaches. 2. A world class central defender is required. 3. A world class goalscoring centre forward. If you look at the stats for last season we are among the highest scorers in the league, sadly we also are among the highest conceders. By the way morons that means we let in more goals. Only Man Utd won more home games.
Finally I think Hughes & co will be gone way before Christmas if we have a bad start to the next season. They could do worse than bring back Sven.

The biggest weakness in defence last season was the club captain. How many times did we see Dunne
resorting to shirt-pulling and causing needless problems ? Our greatest need is a central defender. Let's have a six footer who would dominate in the box.

MAN CITY SUCK

Why Diego Forlan today it was Lucas Neill too! Gosh this is a lack of ambition am sure Forlan could score goals but hes getting old now.I don't understand this Man City the club with unlimited transfer funds it seems and they want to sign Forlan why? I wouldn't be surprised if manchester city end up signing kaka becuase last year chelsea looked the favourites to sign robhino and then city and steal him. I do hope they sign tevez he's a great striker and love watchng him play football he always changes the game and if they manage to get eto'o there striking force will be almost unstoppable. The on ething i don't want city top do is to buy kolo toure becuase us gooners need him don't mind city buying any of chelsea's or tottenhams key defenders.
Next season is going to be very interesting i wanna se if city be siging during the summer can get them a trophy next season.

(Chelsea Fan) Would like to see the blue half of Manchester get some success its about time they made the United fans in Great Yarmouth and Brighton cry.Just hope they manage to sign some quality players who will play their heart out for the club and not the wasters we've had over the years who've just came over for the cash.Good luck City!!
somebody tell me wat all the fuss is about players wanting to move to another club just for money. think about it now, playing football is job at the end of the day. if some1 told me i could do my exact job down the road but for far more money then id be there in a flash and if any1 denies they would then your kidding yourselves. some of these players have families and are thinking about their childrens futures just as i would be. CITY TILL I DIE.
