Fri 05 Jun, 02:59 PM

Former Rochdale defender Nathan D'Laryea has decided to go to university following his release from Spotland.

The former Manchester City youngster was not offered a new deal by the League Two outfit and will now aim to play part-time while he studies.

D'Laryea told the club's official website: "I have decided to go to university whilst hoping to get a deal to play part time somewhere to help pay the bills.

"I will be doing English Language at the University of Manchester.

"It is hard to get places there so I thought I may as well go for it when the opportunity came up. Long term the plan is to go into journalism or teaching and as I say all I need is a contract for next season and I will be sorted."
