Morgan has no complaints

Fri 05 Jun, 02:02 PM

Sheffield United captain Chris Morgan believes his side should feel proud of their achievements last season despite their play-off final defeat to Burnley last month.

The Blades missed out on automatic promotion by just three points before their 1-0 Wembley defeat but the 31-year-old was full of praise for his team's character and resilience.

He told the club's official website: "We have got to be proud at finishing third and going into the last game of the league season with chance of automatic promotion.

"We didn't achieve exactly what we wanted and fell at the last hurdle but the fans saw that we gave it a right go and you can't complain too much at how close we actually got on two occasions.

"A lot of things were thrown at us which tested us at times but when they were you saw our character and resilience in getting results like those at Reading and then at home against Swansea which stick in the mind. We stayed in with a shout throughout the campaign."

  1. the blades were short of ideas @ wembley, whos fault was that , BLACKWELLS, get rid now, get someone younger , ie , dave jones from FOREST would be my idea.hes young and will make a good manager in a couple of years time . i never heard any singing in the burnley match , only a few roars in the last 20 minutes when young WARDY came on , ok they kept on when he was sent off , but before then hardly anything . i knew the 5 points lost against forest & donny rovers would be fatal , so come on MR MCCABE get to forest & get a good young manager , or else we will be in the championship for years to come.

  2. now that crystal palace have been fined for playing an uneligible player against the mob from up north are sheff utd going to sue for the three points that they surely would have got to get them a point short of automatic promotion. i think not.after all is this not the same scenario as the carlos tevez affair.a player influencing a game who should not have been on the pitch.as for the rubbish players who want to sue for loss of earnings why if they were that good why have they not come back up.maybe jagielka was the only decent player they had and as he has gone on to a better team then maybe he should pay west ham some compensation for doing his career a favour.nice to see burnley another claret and blue team doing so well.enjoy the money from west ham, save some as it will be a long time before your back in the prem.

  3. As a long-suffering Blade, the 2 derby defeats to the pigs & the Gutless & Spineless Humiliation at wembley are the things that stick in my mind this season. A manager & team, who when asked to 'Step up to the plate', when we REALLY needed them to show us that they were the REAL DEAL!, turned out to be a bunch of BIG TIME BOTTLERS. Another (wasted) season of Promise = Failure to add to a LONG, LONG list of others!!.
