Manchester City have begun what is expected to be another busy transfer window by sealing a deal for Germany defender Jerome Boateng.
The 21-year-old will officially become a City player on July 1, having agreed a five-year deal to sign from Hamburg.
Boateng was in Manchester on Saturday to confirm the details of the move before jetting off to South Africa to join up with the Germany team.
No fee was announced by the club, but it had been reported that Boateng would cost around 12.5 million euros (£10.35m).
Boateng had long been a target of City boss Roberto Mancini.
"This is a very good signing for Manchester City and I am pleased to bring Jerome to the club," the Italian said. "He is a young player who is already of a very high quality, but I think he can continue to improve at City."

Good old city they've just paid about 7 million over the odds for an untested defender and yet he is no better than Micah Richards.
Brian (comment 27) totally agree, problem is they don't live in Manchester they all come from down south (Charlton area i believe).
In truth I don't know too much about this lad but we'll see him in the World Cup for Germany, all the same though Mancini is a shrewdie and doesn't blow 12m on duffers, boosts the defence up which is what we needed so i'm happy.
I reckon we need another 3 players (2 midfielders and a forward) which will be good enough to get more than the 4th spot next time around.
agree with ollie g,anyway i just remember last year the way they bought lescott, bet he regret that day he signed for that eastland club, might cost him the world cup
No doubt this is a good signing by City but City already has a load of good defenders. Richards is a very good defender but is warming the bench there. What is Mancini planning?
Rooney isn't going to Madrid, he wont be able to get his fish and chips and Sausages and Mash in Madrid. He would never fit in. I really think its funny how you guys are getting so offended, when the facts are staring you right in the face. Man City with all their money couldnt manage a Champions League spot, even with Liverpool flaming out early. Tottenham beat you for the spot, and your getting angry at me. ha ha classic city fans ha ha. U guys needed the champions league to entice the big names, and you couldnt manage it. too bad so sad dont care. You have bags of money, but no one wants to play for you ha ha

JELOUSE BASTERD
I dont really see why anyone would want to go to city. Their city rival ManU is one of the most famous clubs in history and always will be. I wouldnt want to sign somewhere I wouldnt be getting Champions League experience. I feel sorry for the lad. Bad decision!
Has anybody noticed that the Man U fans who come on here with their critism of City cant come up with sensible comments just foul language surely there must be one of these out of towners who can understand normal English,
David W ....is that for wan&er !! I am not a City fan or a Man u fan , but your a Tw*t !
Lol another mercenary joins the mass ranks of the overpaid losers at the worlds biggest money laundering operation , if he was serious about the club he would buy a ground for the club dossers .
