Scunthorpe United, relegated to League One from the Championship last season, have snapped up Scottish defender Kenny Milne on a free transfer.Milne has signed a two-year contract with the North Lincolnshire club after spending the past three seasons at Falkirk.

The 28-year-old, who started his career at Hearts, admits he was keen to play in England after spending his entire career in Scottish football.

He considered several offers, but was tempted by Iron manager Nigel Adkins' plans to take the club back into the Championship.

"I had quite a few offers to come down to England, I've played in Scotland for a long time now and I fancied a whole new challenge," Milne told the club's official website.

"I spoke to the manager and I was dead impressed with what he had to say. He has ambitions to get the club back into the Championship and I want to be a part of that.

"I've been offered the chance to come down to England and I think now is the best time to do that."
