Sat 05 Jul, 12:45 PM

Peter Ridsdale wants his future as Cardiff chairman to be decided by fellow directors after the club's new stadium is built.Ridsdale has come under increasing pressure from fans and other sources this week and will let the board determine if he should continue in his role.

Ridsdale recently received £1million from the debt-ridden club, while PFA chairman Gordon Taylor has publicly criticised the "dreadful" manner Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was refused a one-year contract extension.

Ridsdale told the South Wales Echo: "It is a regret if he believes we have not handled this (Hasselbaink) matter correctly.

"We are looking to bring a close to this whole thing in a professional manner and believe we have a strong case to put forward. An amicable agreement will be reached."

He added: "I was brought in to see the stadium through and that will be completed. I will then go to the board of directors and it will be up to them to see if they want me to continue in this role."
