Bolton have moved to again rubbish reports linking them with a move for disgraced midfielder Joey Barton.
The Newcastle player is currently serving a six-month prison sentence for assault and affray following an attack on a man outside a Liverpool McDonald's restaurant in December last year.
There have been stories linking him with a return to football at Bolton upon his release.
But chairman Phil Gartside has already categorically stated his club will not be entering any negotiations with the 25-year-old, and today the club clarified their position further.
A Trotters spokesperson said: "At no point has any representative of Bolton Wanderers expressed an interest in or made an enquiry about Joey Barton.
"We would like to reiterate that Bolton Wanderers is not interested in the services of Barton."
Barton was last week found guilty of assaulting former Manchester City team-mate Ousmane Dabo, an offence for which he was given a four-month suspended sentence.
Dabo was left with horrific facial injuries after Barton struck him from behind and reigned blows on him during an incident at the club's training ground at the end of the 2006-07 season.

barton for england. He's done the time for the crime! Justice was served now get him an england shirt and watch him go - He'll not @#$% foot around like lampard
We need a player like him at Leeds.A player with passion. He just needs a boss whos bigger than him and will take him quietly to one side and shoe him!!
There is no room for a Thug like Barton in any sport.
He should be banned for life from every sport proffesional or amateur
No club in their right mind should consider taking him on now, and Newcastle's stance, not to sack him, is ridiculous. I can't think of any other job where, if you assault an associate, you would remain in work. Unfortunately money talks, and it seems Newcastle will hold out until some unthinking club decides to make an offer for him. He shouldn't be in prison but in a secure mental hospital, because there is something very wrong with his brain.
he should be banned from ever playing for a professional football club for life
