Premier League - Tevez: Fans will forgive City move

Eurosport - Sun, 05 Jul 09:29:00 2009

Former Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez is confident he will not be viewed as a traitor by the Old Trafford faithful if he completes a transfer to the club's cross-city rivals.

2009 Manchester United Carlos Tevez - 0

The Argentina international turned down a permanent deal at United last month following a two-year loan deal and has since been linked with a lucrative move to wealthy Manchester City.

Tevez told The People: "If I play for Manchester City I don't think the United fans will feel I am a traitor. They have to remember that at least as far as I know I have been thrown out of the club and I have to study the best offers available."

Tevez's decision to turn down the offer of a five-year deal at United has been defended by his adviser Kia Joorabchian, and the player himself insists manager Sir Alex Ferguson left him with little choice but to move on.

"It has come about because I could not stand my sporting situation at Manchester United any longer," he continued. "My first year was good in all senses. I played in the games and felt respected by the coach but in my second year some strange things happened that I still do not understand."

"I gave everything for Manchester United and people know that. For that reason I don't deserve the way things have ended up."

  1. As long as he doesn't score against MU, there will be no grudge.

City aren't capable of a title challenge yet, so as long as they can stop the other 3BIG from getting points that's

    f@rkin' great !

  8. Tevez must be joking, the dirty, disrespectful traitor. He should make sure he's injured rather than risk coming back to OT.

  9. what a @#$%. he apparently turned down liverpool because it would be too hard for united fans but didnt think about that with city who just happen to be paying way more.

  10. why are united fans called munich scum by liverpool fans? the busby babes were cruelly taken from us and to have thier memory slated so disgustingly shows what a moronic bunch they really are.

  12. Honestly hes done good and would have done even better if Fergie gave him more chances. But it is out of order that Fergie waited untill the last minute to sign him it was obvious that he would decline it. It would make him think that he was on the last of Fergies mind. So I forgive him because he did good.

I can remember when the washed out blues had a good team at Main Road. 'Course, that was 1946 when OT was bombed out.

Tevez said he would never leave utd for liverpool, them signs for their cross town rivals, like Gerrard saying he wouldnt leave Liverpool for UTD then joining Everton. But he wouldnt because he isnt a money hungry scab. Cant wait for all the UTD fans to boo tevez at OT later in the year, then laugh when when he scores a brace. LFC title 20 on the way.

  16. Your track record includes CORINTHIANS and WEST HAM... thats its. For Argentina, you are on the bench behind MESSI and AGUERO. WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT YOU ARE WORTH 25.5 MILLION?? YOU ARE NOT A SUPER STAR, you idiot. Your signature was worth dirt 3 seasons ago, and your advisor JOORABCHIAN IS A SCUMBAG. Selfish, ignorant, money-grubbing @#$%... INCOMPETENT and UNFIT TO WEAR THE MANCHESTER RED...PISS OFF TO MAN CITY and TAKE ALL THE A-RABS MONEY

    From rjam87, on Sun 5 Jul 6:25PM
  17. I don't see the problem here; Tevez was NEVER a man united player to begin with!
    He was a loanee.

From cameron w, on Sun 5 Jul 6:06PM
  18. How the hell did Tevez getb treated badly? If his salary last year was made of bonuses on how many goals he scored he would have earned @#$% all.The loan had not expired and Man United offered him a great deal and he refused? All the players got left out at some stage, even Ronaldo, its a squad game now.Tevez will be hated as a traitor,I think he is the biggest scum bag who has ever donned the shirt. When he was at West Ham he did wonders at the end but went match after match without scoring and did not score many taking it over all the season. Headless chicken who scored 5 goals,I could get 5 in that team I am sure. Berba scored more and had many more assists,he also got left out quite a bit.He also had the chance to go to City, they tried to sign him on the day United did,the same day as Robiniho. They offered more money to him and he signed for us! At least he wants to wear the shirt with pride so get off his back and support him next season, you may get a shock.
