Former Italy striker Francesco Totti has said he is open to the idea of coming out of international retirement.
The Roma captain said: "I will talk with coach Marcello Lippi and together we will consider my return to the national team."
The 32-year-old retired following the World Cup win in 2006. He has been capped 58 times by Italy scoring nine goal.
Totti, who has been blighted by injury in recent years, also said he was close to signing a new contract which would keep him at his boyhood club until 2014.

58 caps 9 goals thats bad for a world class player
I think it would be a good idea for Totti to go to the world cup. We are relying too much on Pirlo to make those killer balls through to the attackers..Totti is as good as Pirlo at unlocking defences and would be a great asset to take to the tournament.
Lets not be dis-heartened about the disasterous results at the Confederations...this was not the REAL Italy and come the world cup next year we should be looking as strong as we normally do.
Totti and Cassano would do a great duo along with rossi at the national team up front

I'm a Juve fan, and i'm with you re. Cassano. Big shame he's not included in Lippi's plans bcos he's the best talent Italy's got. Re. Del Piero, he never quite impressed with Italy. He'll be 35/36 by the world cup and should not be called up, giving place and time for Rossi to develop. Italy lack flair in attack at the moment, and Totti's creativity could help there. I'd like to see Totti back in the squad, but I hope the squad won't be built around him like Trapattoni's Italy did.
Not a good idea. Perhaps recalling Cassano & Del Piero would be better - Totti's heart's not been in it
