Former Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez is confident he will not be viewed as a traitor by the Old Trafford faithful if he completes a transfer to the club's cross-city rivals.
The Argentina international turned down a permanent deal at United last month following a two-year loan deal and has since been linked with a lucrative move to wealthy Manchester City.
Chelsea are also reportedly tracking the 25-year-old's availability, but Eastlands is believed to be Tevez's likely destination this summer, and he told The People: "If I play for Manchester City I don't think the United fans will feel I am a traitor."
He added: "They have to remember that at least as far as I know I have been thrown out of the club and I have to study the best offers available."
Tevez's decision to turn down the offer of a five-year deal at United has been defended by his adviser Kia Joorabchian, and the player himself insists manager Sir Alex Ferguson left him with little choice but to move on.
"It has come about because I could not stand my sporting situation at Manchester United any longer," he continued.
"My first year was good in all senses. I played in the games and felt respected by the coach but in my second year some strange things happened that I still do not understand.
"After the game at Old Trafford where Liverpool beat us (4-1, in March), Ferguson ignored me almost as if I was to blame for the defeat when really Liverpool dominated us all over the pitch.
"After that the fans called for me to be in the team but he never took the advice on board because he always knows best.
"I gave everything for Manchester United and people know that. For that reason I don't deserve the way things have ended up."

He's not serious is he? I am a Liverpool supporter, but this would be as bad as someone leaving us and going to Everton! Of course the Utd fans are going to be peeved. The last thing to do is bag Ferguson. He has proven himself the best, what has Tevez done? If this is how he carries on, then I am glad Liverpool didn't chase him.
Man. City seem to be doing what Chelsea did a few years ago and buying anyone & everyone.
tevez? who?
No, we won't.
Dude Thank You , but get over with fans and all , u are gone for your own reason's .. Dont cry now , move on .. Its United who got a point to prove not you .. and i am sure SAF many tricks ..
course he'll be a taritor and the worse kind a greedy one who's gone for the money!! same with a lot of city's new signings had the chance join bigger clubs and play champions league and play for top honours in the game but decided to take the money!!! hope they fall on there faces and finish mid table next year see if they like there money then when they don't make europe and win nothin
don't worry, Newcastle are coming for you Tev...You'll move anywhere for cash! MERCENARY B.
during the 1st season tevez complained so much that he was tired and had been over played.when he was given breaks this season he complained that he wasn't being played enough.
fergie needs to have 4 strikers that know how to work together incase one is injured or he needs variation because of the other teams tactics. Berbs played in the smaller matches to get him used to the team and tevez felt unwanted but was played in nearly all the big games.
ryan giggs never complained, scholes never complained, fergie never wants for his players to cry infront of the press every time they disagree but tevez did it all the time. ofcourse he's a traitor, he was offered the full contract at the time when man utd specified they would do it. then he goes to city???? that's as bad as going to lpoo.
tevez and his agent have always been in it for the money. he scammed west ham, he was an illegal player, he won 2 premiership titles at united but cried when he didn't get more money when he demanded it and went.
"Tevez: Fans will forgive City switch"
NO they f**king won't you mercenary f**k.....
I'm not getting the whole Tevez nonsense, non-existant for most of the season until his deal was almost up and THEN he starts playing......good for Man Utd since he helped secure the title but strange how his form kick in just when it was time to start selling himself to a new club. He wasn't first choice for most of the season, because he was @#$% for most of it, Macheda had an equally big impact last season.
"Ferguson ignored me" - Grow the f**k up, what are you five years old, you're not that important as a player, you were part of a squad and had you best games as a sub.
"After that the fans called for me to be in the team but he never took the advice on board because he always knows best. " - Fergie's won how many titles?
Yes he is a traitor he had a chance to join several clubs but he left to local rivals City and just for money, as they wont be playing top level football for a few years. I dont blame him leaving united as he was not guarrented first team football but hecould of got that at Chelsea.
i agree with #3/#4 why all the storys about how tevez left and why he still appears sore at having to LEAVE when a CONTRACT was OFFERED the reason he left was pride well i'm sorry but sometimes you have to swallow that pride, the united fans and all their chanting and placards got tevez a permanent offer from the club its the fans who were desperate for him to stay and dont forget his situation being owed by someone else (not a club) doesnt make things easy when negotiations are trying to be discussed, a team is always being revised SAF may have thought he wouldnt be able to accomodate TEVEZ to the team and give him the games he wanted and from what ive read he in his own words he doesnt know why he was treated like that well he's got a tongue in his head all he had to do was ask.SAF...TEVEZ left after contract offered ..your gone now carlos shut it and move on. and their will be a backlash from utd supporters cos your in know way a ROY KEANE/DAVID BECKHAM or for that matter even a CHRISTIANO RONALDO or any other legends who finished their carrers elsewere they all gave their best years to the club b4 deciding to move on you blew it bcos of pride now your a never was..deal with it.
Once again Man Utd "Minnows" lose out to a bigger better club.......
Good Luck Carlos...
GREAT PLAYER BUT NOT GREAT ENOUGH FOR MAN U. AT CITY HE WILL BE THIRD CHOICE TOO ROBINHO AND ETOO? FOR £110K PLUS PER WEEK I'M SURE HE WILL NOT MIND BEING ON THE BENCH. FANS LOVE HIM COS HE WORKS HARD AND SCORES SOME GREAT GOALS - BUT NOT ENOUGH GOALS. GOOD LUCK TEVEZ YOU DID US A SERVICE AND NOW YOU HAVE MOVED ON NOT A TRAITOR AS LONG AS HE KEEPS HIS MOUTH SHUT
thrown out of the club? he rejected a contract. at least show some dignity in your words. one can't expect to play every match for Man Utd. if we had another striker come in, then you should've put more effort in training in order to cement your place in the team.
wen will dis short guy grow up. u ve left united why then all this. let me tell u tevez, u ve lost the little dignity united fans had for you. go d hell to Manchester (no history) City. foolop
Carlos, we still do not understand Fergie.
Good luck
where eva tevez goes he will neva be a traitor 2 man utd
good luk tevz
red devil 4 lyf
