Accrington boss John Coleman is hoping the club's final pre-season friendly against an Everton XI will be a boost ahead of the new campaign. The mentor is confident the encounter will give his charges the perfect springboard for the forthcoming League Two season which kicks off on Saturday.

"I would have liked to have had more games, but the lads are all looking good so far," Coleman told the Lancashire Telegraph.

The Premier League club agreed to play Stanley to help raise money for the development of the Fraser Eagle Stadium, which will raise the ground's covered seating capacity to 2,000 by May 2009.

Accrington chief executive Robert Heys is delighted that Everton agreed to play the friendly.

"Stanley have had a good relationship with the Merseyside outfit in recent years," Heys said.

"We took Anthony Gerrard on loan during our time in the Nationwide Conference and played them in a behind closed-doors training match at Goodison Park last season."
