Rochdale manager Keith Hill says only time will tell what impact last season's League Two play-off final defeat will have on his players.Dale have not succeeded in a promotion push since 1969 and have been in the bottom tier of English football since 1974 - the longest unbroken run in the basement division of the Football League.
Last season's 3-2 defeat at the hands of neighbours Stockport ensured they face another year in League Two.
Hill said: "In terms of the mental state of the squad and any possible hangover from the play-off defeat I cannot gauge that yet.
"The lads all assure me that they want to do well and mentally I do think that they are strong.
"The vital thing is that we have to improve individually and collectively and that is what I will be advocating all season long."
