Tue 05 Aug, 11:30 PM

Dave Kitson scored his first goal for Stoke in the 3-2 win over Southampton while fellow Premier League new boys West Brom lost 2-0 at Walsall. The former Reading striker smashed home Mamady Sidibe's flick after only two minutes to put the visitors ahead, but David McGoldrick equalised eighth minutes before the break.

Former Saints loanee Vincent Pericard's long-ranger made it 2-1 to the visitors with 74 minutes gone, only for Stern John to level two minutes later.

Stoke secured the win 10 minutes from time when Jamie Hatch put the ball into his own net, after good work from Pericard.

West Brom fielded a youthful side and went down to a 2-0 defeat at Walsall.

Anthony Gerrard - cousin of Liverpool captain Steven - opened the scoring from a 36th-minute corner, and Troy Deeney rounded off the victory five minutes from time.

Baggies goalkeepers Scott Carson and Dean Kiely were both given 45 minutes as they stake their claim for the number one jersey against Arsenal next Saturday.

Andrea Orlandi scored the only goal as Championship new boys Swansea defeated Dutch Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag 1-0.

Orlandi seized on Leon Britton's pass after 37 minutes, before unleashing a drive into the bottom corner.

Denes Rosa and Daniel Jones scored cracking first-half goals to give Wolves a 2-0 victory at Stafford, who are managed by former Molineux hero Steve Bull.

Lewis Young grabbed a 1-1 draw for a young Watford XI against St Alban's City, who opened the scoring through Simon Martin.

Goals from Michael Paton (17) and Sammy Stewart (79) earned Aberdeen a 2-0 away victory against Inverurie Loco Works.

  1. stoke are going straight back down! they were outplayed by the saints, there was a blatant hand ball just before their second goal and, bar kitson, have no premiership class at all. just hoof the ball up to the big man, doesnt work in the premiership. see you boys back in the championship next year.
