Southend boss Steve Tilson expects to have striker James Walker and winger Damian Scannell fit for the start of the League One season. The Shrimpers begin the campaign with a home clash against Peterborough on Saturday and Tilson is hopeful Walker and Scannell will overcome thigh and groin injuries respectively to feature at Roots Hall.
"I think James should be back training in a couple of days and will be able to play on Saturday," Tilson told the Southend Echo.
"It's the same with Damian. His groin problem has been around a bit longer but we're hoping he will be able to play too."
