Premier League - Coleman hurt as Everton lose
Everton's final pre-season match ended in a 1-0 defeat to Villarreal, with a worry over Seamus Coleman after he was carried off injured, while Bolton also lost to Spanish opposition.
The Irish midfielder was left in agony after a poor challenge from Carlos Marchena and, while the stretcher was not needed, he had to be helped into the dressing room with what seemed to be a shin injury.
He was taken to hospital for a scan and will have more tests on Monday.
Whatever the outcome, Coleman would have missed the new season opener against Tottenham through suspension.
Spurs target Giuseppe Rossi scored the only goal of the match, a long-range free-kick just after the hour mark.
Bolton, meanwhile, fared no better against Spanish opposition as they went down 1-0 to Levante at the Reebok.
With 10 minutes left, Vicente Iborra finished from close range after a free-kick came off the woodwork.
