Fly-half Stephen Jones has been passed "100 per cent fit" for Wales' World Cup Pool B opener against Canada in Nantes on Sunday.
Jones (pictured), who had been suffering from a groin strain, missed Wales' World Cup warm-up games last month and was considered doubtful for the Japan game.
But Wales assistant coach Nigel Davies confirmed on Wednesday that the former skipper is now available for selection.
"Stephen has come through a couple of training sessions now and is 100 per cent fit," declared Davies. "That is great news for the squad.
"No firm decision has been made on whether or not he will figure at the weekend. Our only other outstanding injury now is with lock Ian Evans, who is hoping to be in the mix for the Australian game in Cardiff next week."
Wales coach Gareth Jenkins must now decide whether to select Jones ahead of the highly-talented James Hook, who played at number 10 on the summer tour of Australia and in the warm-ups with Argentina and France.
One option for Jenkins is to play Jones at fly-half and Hook at inside centre, where Wales looked short of creativity in their losses to England and France and narrow win over the Pumas.
Wales skipper Gareth Thomas played number 12 in all the warm-up games but could be moved to wing or full-back where he normally plays.
