Some 500 Roma fans unveiled banners and sang chants asking owner Rosella Sensi to sell the club at a largely peaceful protest at their training ground.

Two takeover attempts have fallen through in the past two years but pharmaceutical magnate Francesco Angelini has expressed fresh interest in bidding for the Serie A side.

Roma's lack of funds and their difficulties in the transfer market contributed to popular coach Luciano Spalletti's resignation, with Sensi quickly bringing in Rome-born Claudio Ranieri to try to placate angry supporters.

The protestors dispersed after several hours, with media reporting that four firecrackers had been thrown at the training ground entrance.

Some 100 fans from clubs across Italy also held a meeting in Rome to decide how to proceed in their protests against a government plan to make all fans use electronic "supporter cards" for away matches from January.

The government believe the initiative will make it easier to police matches and electronically track Italy's notorious hooligans, but fans feel it is an invasion of privacy.

  1. avellabonello, Rafa had al the funds he could enjoy but bought mostly average players, so don't feel too sorry for him. And when you say players should have been sold or loaned, what would Benitass play then? He does not even introduce youngster Liverpool players to think they can take over

  2. Myself as a liverpool fan am not at all happy with Rafa Benitez. Even though he made an excellent signing in Glen Johnson and possibly also Aquilani (who is injured though!!!!!!!!) he still keeps on utilizing the likes of Lucas, Voronin, Babel, Dossena, El Zhar, Ayala, Insua etc........ these are all poor players and should have been sold during the summer transfer market or even better should have been sent out on loan to worse clubs than pool in the epl to acquire some experience in the premier league. Furthermore i do sympathise slightly with Rafa, because of the funds he has at his disposal : Without a doubt Kyrgiakos can never be the ideal replacement for Sami Hyppia. However i do believe that if the above players were sold then Liverpool would have made enough financial income to buy someone such as Michael Turner or Matthew Upson or Newcastle's Taylor (all top BRITISH central defenders btw) instead we're left with an ageing Greek who wasn't exactly top notch against Bolton.

Over the past 5 to 8 years i have fallen in love with Luciano Spalletti' s style of play (who recently resigned as Roma's manager) both when at Udinese (where he was absolutely fantastic breaking into the top 4 of the Seria A) and also at Roma (where he won a couple of trophies and led Roma to 2nd spot in 3 successive seasons). Ranieri himself who replaced Spalletti at Roma also had praise for his predeccesor's style of play.

Furthermore Spalletti is a very intelligent man, 50 years old (the right age for the job), always had a very good relationship with players and the media and journalists (but maybe not as much as mourinho lol). Btw, one of the reasons Aquilani is the classy player he is, is because of the genius of Spalletti and don't forget other Roma players who have blossomed of late such as De Rossi, Totti, Mexes, Perrotta, Doni, Vucinic etc.....
Signor Spalletti, I along with many other great admirers of yours (also fans of Lpool) would love u t
