Eurosport - Mon, 05 Oct 11:53:00 2009

Emmanuel Adebayor and Stephen Ireland will return for Manchester City at Aston Villa.

After completing a three-match ban Adebayor has been cleared to play after escaping an FA misconduct charge with a £25,000 fine following his controversial goal celebration against Arsenal last month.

Ireland has recovered from a sickness bug and he should also be involved as Gareth Barry faces his former club.

Villa midfielder Steve Sidwell is back in contention after injury.

The former Chelsea player has been unavailable for the last two games against Cardiff in the Carling Cup and Blackburn in the league because of a thigh problem, but he has now resumed training.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill has no fresh injury worries as he prepares to welcome back Gareth Barry, who spent 12 years at Villa before his £12 million summer move to Eastlands.

Former City skipper Richard Dunne will face his old team-mates for the first time since his £6m switch to Villa in August.

Follow live text commentary of Adebayor's return from suspension as Manchester City take on Aston Villa at 20:00 UK time.

  2. Don't worry Real Madrid, if you guys are behind Barca by X-mass then you can go out and buy the rest of your competitions best players, you haven't bought them all yet, shoot go out and buy a Seville player or two to make sure they don't beat you again...if only Barca would sell. Same goes for City.

  3. If Young and Milner swing balls into the pen spot area we could be in trouble with our dodgy £40m centre half pairing against Carew, plus Given does like to stay at home.

The other side of the coin is that Villa will struggle to contain City's forwards (Bellamy, Ade, Tevez) and those that come on later (Petrov, Santa Cruz, SWP) depending on the starting line up.

A trademark Dunney OG would be nice.

  5. More trouble for Villa after Ade and Ireland coming back in the squard. I am sorry for Martin O'neil who is the most senseable manager at Premier League. However, tonight he might be handed a defeat from us.

    City 3 - 0 Villa.
