Hamilton: I'll stay at McLaren for life

Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton has said he wants to spend his entire career with the McLaren team.

The Briton was speaking at the team's headquarters in Woking, three days after becoming F1's youngest title-winner in Brazil.

Hamilton visited the McLaren's base headquarters to thank the team's 1,000 employees for their contribution to his success, and said he was "not going anywhere"

"I've never seen you all before in one place," he said. "It's pretty awesome for me to be standing here. My heart's still racing. It hasn't really hit home yet.

"We have proved to everyone that we are the best team and we have the best car.

"We have been under so much pressure and we have lost together and won together and this weekend we have won the world championship."

Hamilton appeared with his father Anthony and pop-star girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger, answering questions at a news conference and posing for photos with McLaren workers.

"These trophies are a result of all your hard work and you should pat yourselves on the back," he said.

"I love this team. I'm not going anywhere."

Earlier on Wednesday, the Queen has added her voice to the chorus of praise, sending a congratulatory message to the 23-year-old.

"I'm delighted that you succeeded in winning the Formula One World Championship to become the youngest-ever champion," wrote the Queen.

"I send you my warmest congratulations on your remarkable and historic achievement."

Hamilton has already received tributes from numerous public figures including Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Conservative party leader David Cameron.

He clinched the title in heart-stopping fashion at Interlagos, overtaking Toyota's Timo Glock two corners from home to take fifth place and finish the season a single point ahead of Ferrari's Felipe Massa.

  9. If he stays at Mclaren for life he will never win as many titles as schumacher, mclaren are very up and down they could go 5 years without another title now.
