Arsenal are this week's biggest winners in our rankings of Europe's finest, Arsene Wenger's side rising two places into the top three.
We take into account domestic and Champions League performances, plus the relative difficulty of each team's league, to find out who is the best team in Europe.
Two victories made to look easy by the Gunners over the past seven days - against bitter rivals Tottenham and then AZ Alkmaar - have sent them to the dizzy heights of third place, just behind Manchester United and table toppers Chelsea.
United have not been in great form of late, but a gritty victory over Blackburn and a draw with CSKA Moscow thanks to a late equaliser was enough to see them hang on to second spot.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are in imperious form, spanking Bolton 4-0 and impressing despite being held by Atletico Madrid to retain their place at the summit of Europe's elite.
Liverpool's troubled times are reflected in their position - 20th and behind such European luminaries as Rubin Kazan and Olympiacos.
The dark times on Merseyside are reflected in Glasgow, with Rangers still unable to break into the top 20 after their clash with Dundee United was called off and Unirea held them to a draw.
Jose Mourinho's Internazionale are this week's biggest climbers, rising five places thanks to wins over Livorno and Dynamo Kiev.
(Last week's positions in brackets)
1 (1) Chelsea - 24.77
2 (2) Manchester United - 23.86
3 (5) Arsenal - 23.50
4 (3) Sevilla - 23.06
5 (7) Bordeaux - 22.73
6 (4) Lyon - 21.91
7 (9) Porto - 21.25
8 (6) Real Madrid - 20.97
9 (14) Internazionale - 20.23
10 (13) Juventus - 19.55
11 (12) Fiorentina - 19.43
12 (10) Barcelona - 19.03
13 (8) Olympiacos - 18.61
14 (11) Milan - 17.39
15 (18) Wolfsburg - 16.11
16 (15) Dynamo Kiev - 15.67
17 (-) Marseille - 15.60
18 (16) Rubin - 15.58
19 (19) Unirea Urziceni - 13.25
20 (20) Liverpool - 13.18
- - -
24 (24) Rangers - 10.94
HOW IT WORKS
Scores are based on points per game in domestic league and Champions League games.
Domestic points per game are multiplied by the league coefficient - either 3.5, 4, 4.5 or 5 - with teams in stronger leagues getting more credit.
League coefficients:
5 - England, Italy, Spain
4.5 - Germany, France, Portugal, Netherlands, Russia
4 - Belgium, Greece, Poland, Turkey, Ukraine, Scotland, Hungary, Romania
3.5 - Cyprus, Switzerland, Israel
Champions League victories are counted as three points for a win. They are all multiplied by a coefficient of 5. Matches in the group stage and beyond are counted.
Example: Arsenal
22 points from 10 Premier League games = 2.20 points per game
Multiplied by league coefficient of five - 2.20 x 5 = 11.00
10 points from 4 Champions League game = 2.50 points per game.
Multiplied by European coefficient of five - 2.50 x 5 = 12.50
Total score = 11 + 12.50 = 23.50

three off the GREATS,right at the TOP.xx
we have waited long enogh for this,this is our time to take the premiership,gunners for live
gunners shd be way ahjead of man u
Because that game was last season and this season, Lyon is doing better than Barca it seems. Double the points after 4 rounds of CL. The rank shows current form, not the outcome of one game.
Barca may be the best team around, but Chelsea is the one winning all their matches. Sad, but true....
Forza Juve!
Why is Lyon 6 places ahead of Barca when, not very long ago, Barca beat Lyon 5-2?
Please remember even the critic's and so called expert's keep there popularity and high incom's if they praise man u, for some reason they are scared to talk the truth and praise the like's of arsenal, for there style, there flare, there success, even the man u will not accept that arsenal did the treble 1st, by winning the FA, the League championship and the fairscup in the early 70s, the list is endless and unlike man u, Mr Wenger doe's not practice dirty trick's and diving, long live arsenal and Mr Wenger.
hey the gunners have been cheated please u guy's shld try and look at things well i guest there is a mistake some were here cos the second place belongs to the gunners
Sorry Crime of the century..........i don't know my Scooter songs......Famous last words indeed.......
anyway back to the Rankings.........they have always been a flawed system but it is explained how it is figured out........If you don't like it then make up your own and post it twatter.....
kenny f aren't you clever. Bumboy, did you come up with that yourself, i'd say you sound like a ten year old but then you quote Supertramp, so you must be at least 50, otherwise you'd think Dreamer was by "Scooter"
What does the F stand for? Fanny :)
Manchester United will still be champions come the end of the season, they have by far the best strength in depth, Chelsea and Arsenal will drop more points and Liverpool are already out of the running. United 4 in a row with number 19. Yak! yak! yak!
Besides the average can easily be counted for the top 3 league as they have the same coefficient as the CL. Just add all the points and divide by all the games and you get a mini score.
Chelsea = 2,5
Arsenal = 2,33
Real = 2,28
Barca = 2,21
Inter = 2,18
ManU = 2,18
Juve = 2
Even Sevilla is above Barca, but they are just about to play. Thats just the way it is...forza Juve!
But still, the message is the same. It is plain math. Chelsea are the best in EU ATM because they are on form. Team qualities may differ, but in the end form decides all, that is how little teams upset big ones.
james b: whats the b for (bumboy?) you are about as deluded as the rest of the cretins who take these so called "power ratings"seriously you would find better accuracy with a broken clock,at least it would be accurate sometimes!! lol! you are i suppose another of those deluded intellectually challenged individuals who believe e.p.l. is the best in the world?
if so i dedicate a song to you. its by SUPERTRAMP the title begins with D and ends with R . a single word title.
arsenal should be above man u
c'mon you gooners. u knw we can rise to da top
Do none of yopu read how it is worked out? the reason 3 english clubs are top is because they are top of the champs league groups with 3 wins and 1 draw so have 2.5 point average. Barcelona only have 5 points so have 1.25 average.
If you don't understand the system, then don't make a comment cos you look dumb as a bag of spanners made from chocolate.
eurosport dudes, why dont you just ditch this power-rankings idea?
just admit it; it wasnt a brilliant idea. in fact it was a terrible idea.
i dont have to say much in order to support my argument.
the fact that fc barcelona lie in the 12th place, a place down from... fiorentina is enough.
i rest my case.
hahahaha... eurosport people, this is @#$%.. sorry.. but it is.. just cuz ur a bunch of britons doesnt mean that british teams have to be first! both man utd and chelsea have lost 2 matches in premier league and have drawn a match each in champs league.. there is no way they are higher than madrid who has only one loss in spain and a loss and a draw in champls league... sorry im a madrid fan but honestly at least sevilla should be higher than them! this is not fair!
And for all you hailing the factual statistical magnificence of all this i will refer you to a quote froma famous mathematician
"in this world there are 3 types of lies
1- lies
2 - Damned lies
and
3 - Statistics"
Wehn the teams run out onto the field stats mean sweet FA as Barca will prove
this is such @#$%!!
how is it the 3 english teams fill the top 3. Mark my word they are not on fire per say at the moment but Barca will blow any of these amateur clubs out of the water when they meet them such is the immense difference in class
