Premier League - Jones fined by Sunderland

PA Sport - Thu, 05 Nov 13:53:00 2009

Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones has been fined by the club for his sending-off against West Ham.

2009-10 Premier League Sunderland Kenwyne Jones - 0

The 25-year-old, who will start a three-match ban with Saturday's trip to Tottenham, was shown a straight red card for raising his hands to West Ham defender Herita Ilunga during last Saturday's 2-2 Premier League draw at the Stadium of Light.

"That's the disappointing thing of the sending-off, not just dealing with West Ham last week, we have got to go into the next three games without Kenwyne," he said. "That's why he has been punished. The club has punished him."

He added: "We have got a standard disciplinary procedure which comes into effect. It's quite simple, it's there in black and white for them.

"Kieran Richardson was exactly the same two weeks ago. If you get sent off for two yellow cards or mistimed tackles, that happens, or you are the last man and you may get handballed or something, that happens.

"But something silly - we have all done it, we have all been there, the heat of the moment and you react.

"He will be a miss because the strike-force for me has been the reason why we are going the way we are at the moment, because we are a threat at the top end of the pitch.

"Being without Kenwyne, we will have to adapt."

  1. There was a bomb scare outside or our local mosque just this week as it happens. The police had to cordone the road off as they'd found a suspicious device in a transit van the drama was over after 1/2 an hour or so, they'd managed to push it inside.

mere banter old chap, mere banter!
As for the Idiot; i am astonished that someone who posts so frequently on his rivals' pages, can have the sheer audacity to try and tell me to keep off these pages - hypocrisy, and that's a FACT!

  5. Camerons right, Brucie is now the best self promoter in the premier league but then he should be, he has after all been taught by the walking soundbite master of spin - Quinny

  6. It would be better for us all if Cameron just fecked off to the SKUNKS pages and bore the other Zebra who goes on there.
Seeing as most of them spend more time on the big boys pages.

You've got to seek anger management courses fella?
your bitterness is starting to get the better of you.I suggest you print a copy of Ashley and hang it on your wall, then you can throw darts at it all day. And all this my dogs bigger than your dog stuff, like we have crowds of Wigan, Fulham, Hull, Brum,Wolves, Blackburn, Pompey, West Ham, Burnley, Bolton and Stoke etc(no disrespect intended at all) And this £1 a ticket bollix, when I purchased one for my 5yr old only on Saturday gone and it was a £1000 percent more than your fabricated figure will have us believe .I also reckon you hate Stevie the Bruce because he's our manager and for that reason only. Now this Jones thing is becoming boring now(yep he had to go-no questions) and this Ilunga fella acted like Rivaldo in the world cup(embarrassingly cringe-worthy and a despicable cancer of our modern game) Now lets move on.

  11. A deserved fine; he let not only his teammates down, but that enormous crowd too, ahem.
Anyway, watching Sky Sports News today (as it's a reading week); bloke says, 'Come back after the break when we have reaction from managers to SAF's claim that you should be able to appeal yellow cards, blah, blah'.
Adverts over, who is the FIRST manager to dip his beak in?
Nope not Mr 'Is that a TV Camera', Tango-Man Brown.
Oh no, there's a new kid on the 'Hey people look at me, listen to my patronising bollix' block.
Take a bow Mr 'please give me some more airtime' Bruce!
Guess what, he spouted yet more bollix, and yes MD, he whined and whined!

    You've gotta love it tho,

Yeah it's funny TK, keep it up fella because it's all you can do it the minute really fella. You either go mad or laugh in the face of adversity, and like you fella -I'd have chosen the latter too!!

I do hope your lot at the next home game cut out the "Fat Cockney Bas-starred" chants though, because if you piss him off anymore, I wouldn't put it past the ferker to change your home strip to Red and White stripes sponsored by Mackems "R" us. I can't believe he's changed the name of Sid James's, He must have known the ramifications of it. It will last a generation with fans all over the country this.

Chin up Fella! and CW, JC and Lily Too!! One day he will be gone.

  15. But thats my point malc, dispute the guys antics all you want its irrelevant. If Jones hadnt raised his hands in the first place then Ilunga doesnt have the opportunity to roll round like hes had acid thrown at him. Jones is 100% to blame for this whole sorry incident, any player who gets himself sent off like this is a disgrace and owes his mates a massive grovelling apology(and a few pints)

  16. Now tone
if any team is gonna be fined for fraudulantly pretending to be a football team , me thinks it could be the ones wearing the Zebra or bannana Strips. Lets try and put this one to bed shall we, Jones was wrong in Raising his hands no-one is disputing that fact, What is being disputed and rightly so is the antica of Linga and the West ham medical team along with the offficials not adhereing to the rules of the game. being yards away from the incident, the ref was clearly told that Ilungs was guilty of an offence which also warrented a straight red, which he chose to interept as a Yellow.

  18. TK, 1.Personally I'd give the entire squad a fine of 6 months wages for crimes against football........

You've got more front than Seaburn, Whitburn and Seaham put together fella, coming out with New Labour spin like that Tony! Crimes against Football and you being an armchair Newcastle fan and all that.

"Crimes against Football + Newcastle United" PMSL Please! Please! Please! Tony

It's beginning to hurt my ribs now all this Laughing "It really is honest" Apparently you's have even upset every Chav up and down the country because they now feel so common and undervalued.

  19. I too am disappointed with Herita Ilunga's reaction ; I think he also conned the medical team aswell;i,m sure Zola would have had a quiet little word with him because that kind of thing is usually frowned on at West Ham .

From KEITH D, on Fri 6 Nov 1:16AM
  20. he should have stamped on him too, no point getting sent off, banned and fined just for a push, make it worth your while next time you fool!
