Premier League - Paper Round: Krasic alert

Eurosport - Thu, 05 Nov 08:51:00 2009

Milos Krasic looked good for CSKA Moscow in their 3-3 draw with Manchester United earlier in the week, and his tasty performance at Old Trafford appears to have pricked the interest of a number of Premier League clubs.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are all weighing up a move for the Serbia international, who last year attracted interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Milan, although both were scared off by the Russian club's £18 million valuation.

About half that amount is more realistic, although scouts are convinced the rangy winger would adapt well to the rigours of the English top flight. (Daily Mail)

Manchester United are also thought to be tracking his progress, although the champions are more likely to bid for Benfica star Angel Di Maria, according to the Daily Mirror.

The loss of Cristiano Ronaldo has understandably hit United hard, but the arrival of the £12m-rated Argentina star could finally fill that void.

He comes recommended by no less than Diego Maradona, and his talent was there for all to see during the demolition of Everton in the Europa League a fortnight ago, a performance which is thought to have sent United spies into overdrive. (Daily Mirror)

Fran Merida's agent seems to be doing his utmost to secure a better deal for his client at Arsenal - and of course a nice juicy 10 per cent for himself. Hot on the heels of yesterday's rumour, started by the agent himself, that Merida could be tempted back to his homeland by Atletico Madrid, Joseba Diaz has claimed Merida now wants to stay a Gunner. Indeed, Diaz is on his way to London to discuss a new two-year deal with Arsenal. And no doubt ask for far more money in the light of this 'interest' from abroad. (The Sun)

Next stop for Sol Campbell could be Germany as the Mail claim Hertha Berlin are tracking the former England, Tottenham, Arsenal, Portsmouth (and Notts County) defender. The Bundesliga side are prepared to offer the 36-year-old an 18-month deal.

Bolton are eyeing up a swoop for Newcastle striker Andy Carroll, who Trotters boss Gary Megson sees as a long-term replacement for Kevin Davies. The Sun say a tidy sum of £4m should be enough to persuade the Toon to let the 20-year-old leave the http://www.sportsdirect.com@St James'ParkArenaBowl, or whatever it's called these days.

Jack Warner has handed back a handbag given to his wife as a gift by England's 2018 World Cup bid leaders. The FIFA bigwig, one of those who will decide whether the tournament will return to these shores, even went as far as to brand the fashionable Mulberry bag "a symbol of derision, betrayal and embarrassment for me and my family". He's never been England's biggest fan though, has he? (Guardian)

South China striker Chan Siu-ki is expected to have a 10-day trial with Tottenham after having caught Harry Redknapp's eye with a goal in a pre-season friendly. (Daily Mail)

And finally, the shocking news that Jay McEveley nearly died when undergoing a routine operation to repair a fractured cheekbone. The Derby defender's heart stopped for two minutes at the Royal Derby Hospital a fortnight ago and he was rushed into intensive care before it kicked back into life. "I'm just happy to be here," he told the Daily Star.

  9. If Man Utd were to replace Nani with Krasic they would be replacing one player who runs with his head down until he gets dispossessed, or falls over, with another. At least Nani takes the occasionally good corner.

  10. of course this player is getting linked with a move to the premiership. he played against a premiership team. these rumours are very very boring now. I could tell you eacch week who it is thats goin to have made up rumours about them and what clubs.
