Andrade trains with County

Former Portugal international Jorge Andrade is training with Notts County.

The 31-year-old, who has played in the Champions League for Porto, Deportivo La Coruna and Juventus, is looking to resurrect his career after two injury-ravaged seasons.

Andrade was released by Juventus in April following chronic knee problems. He missed almost all of the 2007/08 campaign and did not play at all last season following a third operation.

"He is here. We will have to wait and see if anything can happen and give him a fair chance to show us what he can do," said Hans Backe, manager of the ambitious Coca-Cola League Two club.

County have been able to attract high-profile personalities to the club since Munto Finance's takeover at Meadow Lane in the summer.

Sven-Goran Eriksson was appointed director of football while Sol Campbell also joined before leaving five weeks into the five-year deal he signed. County also held talks with Roberto Mancini about the managerial job before opting to appoint Backe last week.

  1. It will be interesting to see if any well known "fit" players under the age of 30 even get linked with County . . . It seems that there are a lot of over the hills players who look upon the joining of a gravy train as being the way to fatten up their "retirement" fund.

I hope that the "management " look at what happened at Swansea when they tried this route
