Jamie Forrester claims he has no interest in becoming Grimsby's next manager despite being named in the betting for the post.
Forrester, who now runs his own football academy after retiring in the summer, spent two years with the Mariners as a player in a career that took him to 11 clubs.
Now 35, Forrester still plays semi-pro for Lincoln United, and has been touted as a potential replacement for Mike Newell at Blundell Park.
But he has no interest in applying for the position, telling Press Association Sport: "I imagine I'm just behind Hope Powell and Santa Claus in the betting.
"I didn't know I was in the betting and I've not got anywhere near applying for it. It's a tough one because I'm very busy with the stuff I'm doing.
"It's a very competitive arena and when a club like Grimsby are looking for a new manager you get 40 or 50 seasoned managers applying. It's flattering that someone has linked me with that post but it's not something I would actively look to do."
