Colchester boss Aidy Boothroyd is poised to open talks with loanees Kevin Lisbie, John-Joe O'Toole and Kayode Odejayi over extending their spells in Essex.
Boothroyd has already tied up Wolves youngster Danny Batth until the end of the season, but the other three are due back at their parent clubs in January.
Ipswich manager Roy Keane has said he wants to recall Lisbie in January in order to sell the striker.
But Boothroyd said: "As far as Kevin Lisbie is concerned it is down to the player whether he wants to play for us longer term. He is responding well to us and clearly likes the environment and the club.
"I`ve got to see if I can do something that keeps him here until the end of the season, and the same goes for John-Joe and Kayode."
Meanwhile, Us midfielder David Perkins has extended his loan spell with Chesterfield for a further two months, and has been given permission to play in the FA Cup.
