Fernando Torres underwent tests at a Liverpool hospital on Thurdsay on the serious groin injury which is threatening to ruin his season.
The Spain striker played 87 minutes of Liverpool's 1-1 Champions League draw with Lyon on Wednesday, a result which virtually ends their hopes of progress from Group E into the last 16.
Torres played with pain throughout the match, before flying back with the Liverpool party on Thursday morning.
Later on Thursday he attended a Liverpool hospital where more tests were carried out on his injury.
Manager Rafael Benitez fears that Torres will eventually need an operation on what he describes as a "poor man's hernia."
However, Liverpool are loathe to go down that route until every other avenue has been explored.

half a brain you really are a donkey !!!!!! now go back to blackpool & let someone ride ur @#$%
The more you folks think it is just a ''crisis'' that will pass, the more I realise you are not watching with both eyes and you are not thinking with both halves of your brain. Liverpool manager spent loads of money on buying average (or below average) players and you really don't have a squad that will come out of the so-called ''crisis''. In other terms, only another great performance (including diving performance) from Captain Criminal Gerrard, combined with a quick and full return to form from Torress, can take you out of your misery. The other players would not even start in Hull. Your problem is having a bad coach, no money to fix his wrong doings, and his continious refusal to use the club's youngsters. This means you are simply doomed... Therefore it is not a ''crisis'', it is a tragedy, a genocide..
im afraid Torres has got to cut one of his scrotum off..ouch..that's nasty...sigh..
at the end of a storm, there's a golden sky, and a sweet silver song of a lark....
hopefully so and in the soonest time possible...
I would love Riise to be back. Anyway...have faith!! We are Liverpool supporters, remember that. The best supporters in the world.
i think now,all what LIVERPOOL CLUB needs is at least LIVERPOOLsuporter to stand by the club, manager and the players, specaily this time when the club passing in very bad time
not just we call our self we are LIVERPOOL fan or supporter ,all what i'm asking at leaset stand by your team ,and i promise you all LIVERPOOL will bounce back where should be in the right track ,it is disappionted but there is some light in the tunnel.........YNWA supporter for ever
john g: seriously look at your facts, liverpool has already spent loads of money (top three) supplied from their owners and other sources while, it's just Rafa's choices of what he does with the money, who he buys that makes it seem like he hasn't gotten enough money from the manager to build a good team. If he had spent the actual money he got on a succesful team then no one would be crying about not getting enough money. Stop blaming your frailties on yanks and money and look at the talent on the field, or lack of.
YEAH RIISE WAS A BRIILIANT PLAYER GREAT IN DEFENCE AND WHEN HE HIT THEM THEY WERE FEIRCE ...... WHAT A GREAT LEFT BACK RAFA WHAT HAVE YOU DONE ......
Riise is a great player. You need him now.
RAFA WHY DID YOU SELL KEANE AND RIISE .........RIISE SCORED A CRACKER OF A GOAL TONITE
These 2 bloody yanks need to make the money they promised available in January so Rafa can buy another decent striker Villa or Silva perhaps.
