Lawrence Dallaglio believes England's painful and prolonged autumn struggle should inspire international players to perform for their clubs this weekend.
Wasps face a crunch Heineken Cup clash against Pool Two rivals Edinburgh at Murrayfield on Friday night, knowing that defeat could deal their quarter-final hopes a crushing blow.
The Londoners are boosted by returning England stars Paul Sackey, Riki Flutey, Danny Cipriani, Tom Rees, James Haskell and Phil Vickery, who captains the 2007 European champions instead of an injured Raphael Ibanez.
And they all have points to prove following England's emphatic defeats against Australia, South Africa and New Zealand during the past three weeks.
"This is a very interesting time because every position is up for grabs, come the Six Nations," said former Wasps and England skipper Dallaglio.
"Every player needs to go back to his club and take a look at himself. They will have been involved in a very tough series.
"They will now realise what it takes to be involved at the top of world rugby and perform for their clubs.
"England's woes will certainly benefit Wasps.
"If I was Danny Cipriani, I would say 'how can I put my game back in order?'
"They will need to start driving their clubs forward, getting Wasps back up the table and proving to everyone they deserve to be in the England team.
"That makes the next round of European games and Guinness Premiership games very interesting."
