Premier League - Ilunga on second-rate West Ham

Herita Ilunga admits he plans to use West Ham as a stepping-stone to a bigger team after admitting the Hammers are "second rate".

Ilunga, who is on a season-long loan from Toulouse, has impressed at Upton Park after establishing himself as a regular in Gianfranco Zola's side.

The left-back has described West Ham as a 'second-rate' club and that he has ambitions of playing at a higher level.

"Without being derogatory, West Ham are a second-rate club," Ilunga was quoted as saying in The Sun.

"Let's not kid ourselves - we are not an Arsenal, Manchester United or Chelsea.

"Once I have proved myself in a team such this, I can hope to make the step up to another club.

"I am keen to continue my adventure in England."

  4. Partly agree with the last comments, but as a season­ ticket holder and therefore seen Ilunga play a good few­ times now, think hes not that bad.
    But his comments­ from someone new to the prem & the club are out of­ order.I think its time to give Lopez a run at left­ back, and see how Ilunga likes playing in the­ reses.

  5. So Mr Ilunga or whatever your name is for a start how­ the hell are you playing in the prem league! I have­ never seen a left back so out of his depth!! Using us­ as a stepping stone? you have just shot yourself in the­ foot with those comments.
    You should have kept your­ mouth shut and got on with trying to improve your game!­ You have got no chance of playing for anyone bigger­ than WEST HAM because you are pony!! So do us all a­ favour and go back to France i would rather see one of­ the home grown players in the team! Moral of this­ story: Dont bite the hand that feeds you you muppet..
