Under-pressure boss Sam Allardyce is confident he can turn around Newcastle's fortunes if he is given enough time on Tyneside. The Magpies' inconsistency this season has put pressure on Allardyce and speculation suggests club bosses are running out of patience.
However, Allardyce believes it is unfair for people to expect him to deliver results immediately and wants to be given at least three years in the job.
And he insists he will not even contemplate resigning even if Newcastle's poor form continues.
"No. Why should I?" Allardyce told the News of the World.
"It is 53 years since they won anything domestically here, so it is a big job to turn this club around.
"I said it would take me three to five years - and I have only been here eight months."
