Barnsley boss Simon Davey praised sub Michael Coulson after he stepped off the bench to score the winning goal against Blackpool in the FA Cup.The 19-year-old, a 71st-minute replacement for Jamal Campbell-Ryce, notched his first goal of the season to give the Yorkshire club a 2-1 win, their first victory in the third round of the competition for nine years.
Top scorer Brian Howard broke brilliantly from midfield before slipping the ball beyond Blackpool's defence for Coulson, who hit a low first-time shot underneath the advancing Paul Rachubka from just inside the area.
Davey said: "I am pleased for Michael, he has worked hard and he deserves that.
"He is capable of coming off the bench and changing a game, as he has shown.
"I am not sure he is ready to start a game yet as we are still trying to develop him and keep his feet on the ground.
"I am not blind, we were poor in the first-half. We lacked a spark and Michael provided it.
"I felt that both sides were poor but I am obviously delighted to get through.
"What would be nice would be a big tie at home in the next round - that would be good for the club."
Blackpool boss Simon Grayson was left to rue a "kamikaze" spell of defending after watching his side squander the lead at Oakwell.
The Seasiders looked like they would hold on to the 33rd-minute advantage given to them by David Fox.
But two goals in the space of four minutes late in the game saw them dumped out of the competition.
"I am hugely disappointed because we dominated for over 70 minutes and then had a kamikaze five minute spell where we couldn't clear the ball in our box," said Grayson.
"We looked like we would hold on and win comfortably and we should have seen the game out in a professional manner.
"We did not defend the corner for the first goal and then we went and conceded again two minutes later.
"Up to then, we were the dominant team, we caused them lots of problems, passed the ball well and created chances."
Talk before the game centred on the future of Blackpool striker Keigan Parker, who was reportedly the subject of a bid from Barnsley this week.
His omission from the squad at Oakwell served to further fuel speculation but Grayson played down the significance of his absence.
"He was involved in the travelling party for this game but he was just left out of the 16, as he has been for the last few matches" said the Blackpool boss.
"That is all there is to it. That will remain the case until we get an offer that we think is acceptable and he can agree personal terms."
