Gannon delight at County win

Sun 06 Jan, 05:30 PM

Jim Gannon lauded the "enthusiasm" and "confidence" of his Stockport side after they came from behind to record a 2-1 victory at Notts County. The home side went in front after seven minutes through Stephen Hunt before Stockport, who lost skipper Gareth Owen after 12 minutes through injury, came storming back.

Anthony Elding levelled with his 13th goal of the season following a neat assist by Liam Dickinson and then Dickinson struck himself without even knowing it as a cross from the right hit him in the chest and bounced into the net.

Gannon said: "It's another important win for us - it's the first time this season we've strung together three on-the-trot - but I thought we should have scored more goals in the first half.

"At the final whistle I wasn't sure whether I was more relieved or delighted because Notts were desperately close to equalising on two occasions.

"All credit to the lads. They are playing with stacks of enthusiasm and there's a real confidence culture about them at the moment - long may it continue."
